How to redecorate a small 27 m2 apartment in the heart of Paris. And above all, arrange it in a functional way so that it is both to the tenant's taste, therefore elegant, but also practical for everyday life?
That was the challenge. Not quite simple...
In this type of project where space is a bit lacking, it is necessary to make strong choices. So a bias first: a beautiful central and permanent bed would be the star of the apartment! And would share the space.
I chose a beautiful low BoConcept bed, without a headboard, with large storage spaces in the structure. Including widened edges around the bed base, like furniture. A choice of bed, aesthetic and practical, which gives the impression that it blends completely into the room, without overloading. Pure white color because the overall space would be on a graphic palette, of feminine elegance: white, very pale yellow, purple and dark brown.
Among the mistakes to avoid for small spaces: neglecting storage and not optimizing the smallest corners.
We found a large white piece of furniture in 2 high sections, lightly decorated, which fills the entire wall to the left of the bed. Here again, a practical side obviously and the visual impression that the piece of furniture blends into the space, like a large painting.
To the right of the bed, a beautiful tall bookcase in dark wood (second-hand) for the "relaxation/reading/lounge area", decorated all around with the tenant's existing furniture.
In front of the bed, also found, a modular table in the same dark wood as the bookcase and which can, depending on, either serve as an entrance serving trolley when it is folded and decorated. And as a dining table when it is unfolded. Clever and comfortable.
The small kitchen has been redesigned in pale purple tones to match the overall colour scheme of the apartment.
Including a dominant colour on the walls: my favourite Wimborne White by Farrow&Ball which I use whenever I can because it is a very pleasant white with a slight yellow accent.
2 beautiful paintings chosen from Repro-tableaux which adorn the bed on one side and the serving trolley/table on the other side, visually reinforcing the impression of sharing the space.
The floor has been redone with a beautiful solid dark oak parquet with long slats ( Décoplus ). Reinforcing the elegant and warm appearance of the apartment.
The result, after a few weeks of intense thought and research, is a small apartment that has fulfilled its objective: to remain elegant, feminine and functional.
